Gtribe Blogs - Fishing

sonarThe winter fronts and insipidly cold weather have hampered the KZN bass fishing. We are still religiously preparing for and fishing the monthly BETT series which do not stop for any such weather! The fish and their feeding habits have slowed down considerably with the cooling water temperatures, but they still need to eat.

Most anglers (including us) have been targeting the deeper water with slower presentations which has definitely paid off as we have maintained our overall position in the top 5 and have now moved into 3rd place. Fortunately we have no shortage of Garmin technology onboard which has proved invaluable with the off-shore deeper bite.
The fish have been relating extremely close to the cover resulting in a total reliance on the accuracy of our sonar and GPS equipment. Without GPS to re-locate productive areas and high definition sonar to pinpoint the habitat, we would be a severe disadvantage. We have fished 5 events so far with 4 to go. The top 10 teams after the 9th event will qualify to fish in the KZN Bass Equalizer Tournament Trail at the end of the season. We have no intention of not being there!
