Gtribe Blogs - Fishing

fishingSpring is in full swing and fortunately the bass have received the change of season memo and started moving to the banks to partake in their annual spawning routines. The fishing at Albert Falls, Inanda, Midmar and Goudetrouw dam has improved dramatically. Although this is a time year when anglers need to respect the need to breed, we also want to get out there and catch some while their behavior is predictable!! Garth and I have just returned from a 3-day practice trip to Goudetrouw and enjoyed the spoils of some awesome fishing.

The fish are eating with conviction and possess severe attitude problems to boot, making the experience of catching them extremely entertaining. We were fortunate enough to be there on the full moon so we fished way into the nights and smashed the fish after dark. What is really neat is the night mode setting on the Garmin finders meaning no screen reflection at night as well as subdued yet vivid colouration to pin-point cover and fish. First time I have used this feature and I must say-very impressed!! The fishing should continue to get better over the next few weeks  as the spawn continues until the summer months take hold and the fish retreat to summer areas, until then we are swinging for the fences!fishing
