Hip City Guide - Cape Town - Hip City Guide

harbourHome to beaches, boats, seagulls and quirky shops, the small fishing town of Kalk Bay has a unique charm that makes it like no other place in South Africa. And no trip to Kalk Bay could ever be complete without an experience at Harbour House – arguably one of the best seafood restaurants in the country. If you’re looking for an especially indulgent affair that will leave a lasting impression, you’ve just found it.

Built on the breakwater, the restaurant stands perched above the rocks, pretty in bright white. The interior is large and airy, with frameless glass windows and open sliding doors that embrace the spectacular view of False Bay and the bustling harbour just below.

But great service and exceptional food are also part of the deal, as are the beautifully decorated white linen tables with fresh flowers, silverware and candles.

An outstanding variety of fresh fish and shellfish dishes are perfectly complemented by wines from the best local wine regions. Desserts are out of this world – the dark-chocolate terrine made up of layers of dark chocolate mousse, meringue and soft almond biscuit, encircled in a fudge sauce, is possibly as close to heaven as it gets.
