shweebSchweeb

It’s the world’s first human-powered monorail racetrack! The original Shweeb is in Agroventures Park in New Zealand but you’ll soon see them around the world. The concept came to creator Geoff Barnett while he still lived in Tokyo, cycling everywhere in the bustling city. He thought: “Hey, why not ride above all this traffic on rails?” And so the Shweeb was born!

The concept is simple: you’re encased in a plastic capsule, and use pedal power to get yourself from A to B. Thanks to its clever deigns, the Shweeb has very little aerodynamic drag and roll resistance, which means that you can go faster for longer. Apparently the Shweeb requires less energy to cover a given distance than any other vehicle on earth!

Obviously the pricing of a Shweeb monorail system depends largely on how much it’ll cost to develop the site and how long the tracks are. It’s not too late to get a couple of your buddies together and bring the Shweeb to one of South Africa’s fair cities or theme parks!

The giant-wheeled chariot skates claim to bring skating, cycling and skiing together in a brand-new extreme sporting experience. The chariot skates are currently in preproduction testing and tuning, and the manufacturers have secured the licence to put these bad boys on the market. The pneumatic tyres of the skates allow you to: gain and maintain momentum with less effort, greater stability and more manoeuvrability, skate over rough terrain or ski down grassy slopes, or commute like you’re on a bicycle.

shweebG1 Glass Pool Table

Glass is naturally rigid and flat, so it’s great alternative to a slate-top pool table. The playing area on the G1 model is made of the patented Vitrik transparent playing surface on top of 15mm-thick toughened glass. Vitrik replicates the rolling resistance of an average speed cloth. It claims to retain is consistent roll characteristics over its lifetime. The G1 glass pool table comes with a ball set, black triangle, two aluminium cues and a bridge stick.

shweebVibrams Five Fingers

‘Barefoot’ running is already hugely popular in the US. The idea is that it’s healthier for your feet to run unencumbered by clunky running shoes – it increases yours sense of balance and makes you more agile. They are available in men’s and women’s styles and come in Sprint, Classic, KSO and Flow variations that are all suited to different activities. They are machine-washable and can be left to air-dry. Vibrams are brought into SA by Branded Footwear; go to www.bfcc.co.za for more information.
